The Process
I joined the communications team at the Institute for Emerging Issues (IEI) as a Graphic Designer during the beginning of the summer of 2015.
In my role as a designer, I lead the rebrand of the Institute, which previously lacked central branding guidelines.
The new brand was used to create a range of print, digital, and interactive materials for advertising, marketing, and outreach purposes.
These brand guidelines were also used in the creation of materials for the 31st Annual Emerging Issues Forum, “FutureWork,” a state-wide event featuring over a thousand attendees, speakers from all over the world, and several North Carolina governors and policy-makers. The materials ranged from name tags, program booklets, and banners, to wayfinding, large digital screens, and animations.
Key Projects
As part of the rebrand of the organization, I created full print and digital guidelines with details on how to use and represent all of the elements of the institute's visual presence.
I created concepts for how the institute's website could be redesigned to feature a more modernized layout, cleaner information architecture, and more accessible UI.
I worked on a series of advertisements and promos for smaller initiatives like Innovate NC, the "My Dream Job" social media competition and the 2016 Discovery Forum, as well as the Mountains to Sea IEI bus tour.
I worked with key institute stakeholders to craft all the print and digital materials for the 2016 Emerging Issues Forum, including the forum brand, schedule and booklet, physical and virtual signage at the event, and floor to ceiling animations that played when speakers entered and exited the stage as well as during breaks.
